Winter/Spring Offseason
The Plano Piranhas Swim Team offers Winter/Spring practices for swimmers ages 7 to 18. All swimmers practice together in the pool and are split into lanes based on skill level to ensure appropriate instruction, challenge, and development. All practices are 45 minutes long.
Practice Schedule
Monday-Thursday:
- 6:45 PM
- 7:30 PM
Saturday:
- 9:00 AM
- 9:45 AM
Practices are designed to keep swimmers active and progressing throughout the winter and spring. The focus is on stroke technique, endurance, conditioning, starts, turns, and overall swimming development, while preparing swimmers for the upcoming competitive summer season. Swimmers 12 and under may only select 2 practice days.
TAAF Winter/Spring Guidelines
Swimmers who are 12 years old and under must follow TAAF's off-season eligibility guidelines from January 1 through April 30 if they plan to compete in the TAAF Summer Games of Texas. During this period, 12 & under participation in stroke-and-turn clinics is limited to 90 minutes per week. Swimmers 13 and older are exempt from these restrictions.
These TAAF guidelines are intended to protect a swimmer's eligibility for the upcoming TAAF summer season. The Winter/Spring Piranhas program will focus on skill development, conditioning, technique, and preparation for summer competition.
Practice Commitment
Piranhas swimmers are encouraged to attend two practices per week to support consistent development and progression throughout the season. Swimmers may select either the Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday schedule, with Saturday practices available as an additional training opportunity.

Swimmer Eligibility Requirements
- Swimmers who have not previously participated in Piranhas must attend tryouts before registering.
- Returning Piranhas swimmers may register according to the registration guidelines for the season.
Lane Assignments by Skill Level
While all swimmers participate during the same practice sessions, swimmers will be assigned to lanes based on skill level and ability. This allows coaches to provide appropriate instruction and challenges while helping each swimmer continue to progress throughout the Winter/Spring season.
The Winter/Spring season is a great opportunity for swimmers to maintain their conditioning, strengthen their technique, and build confidence before entering the summer competitive season.
