The Plano Piranhas is a youth recreational swim team dedicated to providing swimmers with a "taste" of competitive swimming. The Piranhas participate in the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation's (TAAF) swim meets offered across North Texas throughout the summer season. Competing in swim meets is not required but encouraged. Swimmers who qualify for the State competition have the option to compete in TAAF's Summer Games of Texas. All swimmers are welcome to sign up for TAAF's Winter Games of Texas, as there are no time qualifications required for entry.
Any swimmers who will be competing in swim meets MUST create a free account on our SwimTopia website in order to sign up for events at meets!
Gold practices are for swimmers comfortable in deep water who can perform strokes at a Swim Level V ability or higher.
Silver practices are for swimmers comfortable in deep water who can perform strokes at a Swim Level IV ability.
Bronze practices are for swimmers comfortable in deep water who can perform strokes at a Swim Level III ability.
Swimmers who have not previously participated in Plano Parks & Recreation swim lessons must try out before registering.
Coaching staff has the right to make the decision of whether or not a swimmer needs additional training before joining Piranhas. We also reserve the right to move swimmers up a level during the season depending on their improvement /skills. We want all swimmers to be safe and in appropriate skill levels to ensure the best experience for everyone.
